Solicitor Wellbeing CPD Training for Irish Legal Professionals
The legal profession can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be demanding, intense, and difficult to switch off from.
Over time, constant responsibility, client expectations, deadlines, emotional pressure, and long working hours can gradually become normalised within legal practice. Many solicitors continue performing at a very high level while quietly carrying significant stress underneath the surface.
Having spent almost 20 years working in legal practice in Galway myself, I understand firsthand the pace and pressures that many legal professionals experience every day. That experience is what eventually led me towards wellbeing-focused work designed specifically to support healthier, more sustainable professional environments within the legal sector.
Today, through Irish Health Hub, I provide practical wellbeing-focused CPD training for solicitors and legal teams throughout Ireland.
Understanding Solicitor Wellbeing CPD Requirements
In recent years, the Law Society of Ireland has placed increasing emphasis on professional development and solicitor wellbeing as part of the annual CPD framework.
Under the current CPD scheme, solicitors are generally required to complete:
25 hours of CPD annually
including a minimum of 5 hours in professional development and solicitor wellbeing
and a minimum of 3 hours in client care and professional standards
The intention behind these requirements is not simply regulatory compliance, but recognition that sustainable legal practice depends not only on technical competence, but also on wellbeing, resilience, communication, and professional effectiveness.

Free Guide: The Irish Solicitor’s Wellbeing CPD Guide 2026
To support solicitors and firms navigating this evolving area, I have created a free downloadable guide:
The Irish Solicitor’s Wellbeing CPD Guide 2026
This practical guide explores:
what solicitor wellbeing CPD actually means in practice
the current Law Society wellbeing requirements
common pressures facing legal professionals
burnout and high-functioning stress within legal practice
practical wellbeing and resilience themes relevant to solicitors
questions firms may wish to consider around workplace culture and sustainable performance
The guide is designed to feel practical, grounded, and genuinely relevant to the realities of legal work not generic wellness advice.
A More Practical Approach to Wellbeing
Within legal practice, wellbeing is often misunderstood as something separate from professional performance. In reality, the two are deeply connected.
When solicitors work under sustained pressure without adequate recovery, support, or boundaries, it can gradually affect concentration, communication, resilience, relationships, and overall wellbeing.
That is why wellbeing-focused CPD increasingly explores areas such as:
resilience and stress management
sustainable performance
communication and professional relationships
healthy culture
leadership wellbeing
psychological safety
managing pressure and workload demands
burnout prevention and recovery
My approach is always workplace practical, professional, and grounded in the realities of legal practice.
Complimentary Mood@Work Diagnostic Snapshot
Every legal team is different.
That is why I also offer a complimentary Mood@Work Diagnostic Snapshot as part of the CPD process for firms and legal teams.
This allows organisations to gain a clearer understanding of what may actually be happening within their workplace environment — including areas such as:
communication
wellbeing
pressure and workload
workplace culture
inclusivity
overall team experience
Rather than delivering generic wellbeing content, the aim is to create conversations and training that feel meaningful, relevant, and genuinely supportive for the people within the organisation.
Training May Include
Training sessions can be delivered online or in person and may include:
